High staircase to residents’ entrance

There are high stairs that are not accessible going from the sidewalk on Maria Austriastraat to the residents’ entrance to the Sem Presserhof sub block. It requires that residents must go about 150 meters around the building to be able to access the resident entrance.

Reliable and safe lifts

The lifts at de Veste have had continuous problems. .  Currently they are not reliable or safe. When the lifts do not function it causes severe problems for people with a disability who depend on the lifts.

Accessible Terrace

We started in 2022 as an informal resident initiative focused on accessibility. Our first project was to make the shared terrace in the Sem Presserhof tower fully accessible. Other goals include making the De Veste complex as accessible as possible and addressing several accessibility issues around De Veste and IJburg.
